without looking it up I believe he spent 7 years in Cup, and sure he wasn't with the best team, but a lot of drivers could say that. There's not room at Hendricks, Gibbs, Childress, Roush, etc. for Juan just like there isn't room at those teams for JA, and every other driver that disappears from the sport without getting a chance to drive for one of those teams. The weird thing about Juan is how many times over the seven years it seemed like he had the car to beat, and he would run up front all day in the lead, and you just knew before the race was over he was going to have a flat tire, get a speeding penalty on pit road, his crew pit would hose him by leaving a lug nut off, or the car would fall off the jack in the middle of the pit stop. Seemed like that happened at least twice a year to Juan. Just didn't seem like he could close the deal on an oval. |
