He's gotten a very late start on his racing career. Didn't show any interest until he was 18ish? Only been racing for maybe 3 years now and with middling success. He needs to start winning and winning with regularity. John doesn't have the finances that Michael has so he can't hand him the keys to an Indycar and let him learn there ala Marco. From what I can tell, they are scraping by to do the sprint car and silver crown racing. But John swears it's the most fun he's ever had in racing so I'm happy for him.
