So, if I read it right....
If 50 cars show up, the top 24 in the first qualifying period will compete for positions 1-24, and the others will fill 25-50 based on their speeds. If 25 cars show up, then the 25th fastest (i.e. slowest) car will take position 25 and the others will compete for 1-24. And if only 23 show, qualifying will be for 1-23, unless NA$CAR makes sure enough slo-mo's are present, so they can start and park, and get out of the way of the top 25. (What is that magic number?) Are they going to have qualifying setups for these 25(30)/10/10 minute periods, or is everybody race-ready? Sounds like a good way to cleverly crash out other top contenders in the process, just like in an actual race ("I was just tryin' to rattle his cage."). And, will Daytona have 43 cars, or everybody who shows, goes? Stay tuned for more exciting developments! Dumb-de-dumb-dumb.
