However, this year the COVID-19 pandemic forced the celebrations to be canceled to avoid crowds and, with it, infections. Therefore, the Government of Jalisco asked the population to stay at home that day.
In addition, he confirmed that there will be no type of celebration in any public square in the state .

For his part, the Secretary of Health in Jalisco, Fernando Petersen Aranguren, pointed out that "Jalisco has been a State that has had enormous achievements and stability, but the current situation is not over yet. However, the state government reminded the people of Jalisco that there will be a celebration through a virtual and television event .

To avoid crowds, Downtown Guadalajara will remain closed
In order to discourage crowds, in the first square of the municipality of Guadalajara there will be roadblocks from September 14 on Ramón Corona Street and Juárez Avenue, starting at 6:00 p.m.

The alternate route will be by Calle Industria- Aquiles Serdán (Calle 28) - Esteban Alatorre- Garibaldi- Federalismo- Vallarta, resuming its normal route to Arcos.
From Poniente to Oriente, La Merced, Teatro Degollado and Calzada Independencia will be omitted.
Also, the public transport routes T14A-C05 (52-B), C118 (62), C137 Tetlán , C138, 707 and 710 Parks will modify their route.
The streets that will be used as a detour route are to the north, San Felipe and Juan Manuel; to the west, Contreras Medellín and Av. 8 de Julio; to the south, Francisco I. Madero and Prisciliano Sánchez; to the east, the Calzada Independencia.
