It doesn't always work out that way, especially since Boardhost totally respected the GDPR (which was passed a few years ago for Europe), and limited the moderators (me) ability to keep the board true to its - take responsibility - roots by blocking the complete IP address and eliminating email addresses.
But we forge on through the fog. Personally I like both formats, poster known and poster unknown (like Reddit), each has its place. The latter of the two taking a lot more work as moderator. Mainly because when people are anonymous the tend to say shit they would never say if you knew who they were.
