Thanks to the many people who support the school garden program. La Semilla Organic Food store has agreed to sell any leftover produce from the Friday Tianguis / community market. This week we have leftover lettuce and arugula. Once again this week we had produce donations (eggplant, dill and spring onions) from Guadalupe’s garden who also runs a bike shop in town.
If anyone has an ice cooler that they will not be using this summer, it would be helpful to the store produce in the organic food store. The refrigerator is too cold for the lettuce.
We are seeking some bilingual speakers to volunteer at next Friday's market to help with the sales (maybe 2 hrs starting at 9:30am) Our gardener, Argenis, will be there but he speaks just a little English.
Special thanks to teachers, Rosy Camacho and Irving Medina for initiating the first after school garden program at the primary school. On Thursday, there were over 20 students participating. They planting some seeds in an egg carton (for easy transplanting) and started a pineapple garden. Next week they will begin a composting system.
