I've been hosting meditation sessions at Casa Luz with the intention of raising funds for the dogs at second chance.
I recently (as of yesterday) have been fostering (to adopt) a dog from second chance and when we went to pick her up, we were informed that she has a form of cancer. It's early stages, no big tumors, but abnormal cells in her vagina and perhaps other reproductive organs. She is bleeding from her vagina on and off..aside from that symptom she is perpetually happy, loving and the most affectionate dog I've ever met. Definitely part angel.
SO...yes, I could just give her back and choose another dog in this town, but I've decided to give it a go. Candy (dogs name) and I travelled to Barra today to see the vet, and he did a lot of tests right there and was able to explain her condition in more detail. She is on medication to stop bleeding and he recommends 4 rounds of light chemo.
I'm not a fan of the western medical system, but I do acknowledge that they save lives everyday and in this case, they could help and I'm leaning towards having that done in combination with my own holistic cancer protocols that are focused around food and herbs.
I'm still unsure if I can take this dog home with me to Canada, because the chemo schedule is 4-5 weeks and my trip is almost over. But at the very least, she will be given treatment and healthy food she needs and we will go from there.
I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can get wormwood capsules, clove capsules and black walnut? As well as other supplements such as vitamin C and B12.
Also, just putting out feelers for accomodation after April 13th if I need to extend my stay for her chemo sched.
If anyone has had a similar experience with a pet, feel free to reach out. We'll go day by day and either I'll bring her back to Canada or fingers crossed she'll find a home here .
