Attention! Posted by The Ambulance Committee on March 10, 2022, 12:40 pm Attention! Remember that this Saturday, March 12, is the first session of training for anyone who wants to be on the ambulance crew. The training starts at 6 p.m. at the ambulance base next to the Centro de Salud. You must attend to be part of the team and to receive valuable training you will use for all your life.

Recuerda que este sábado 12 de marzo es la primera sesión de entrenamiento para todo aquel que quiera formar parte del personal de la ambulancia. El entrenamiento comienza a las 6 p.m. en la base de ambulancias al lado del Centro de Salud. Debes asistir para formar parte del equipo y recibir una formación valiosa que te servirá toda la vida.

We are getting reports from La Huerta that it is almost done. Parts have been hard to obtain because the ambulance is an American made diesel, and of course, over the last couple of weeks, with the holidays, no progress has occurred. Check back for an update when the holidays are over and the government offices are functioning again. The ambulance will be back, better than ever!

It is one of our causes and we want to donate for this season. We’ve had a big disaster in our mountain home and as a result I only arrived in mid February and Scott is coming the end of this week. Our plan is to be here for 2 months and if possible we could make a plan to get some money to you for helping out whatever the need. It’s a great service you do for the community and important that you know how much you are appreciated. Bravo Jeannie. Hope to hear from you at bastarr@me.com

Yes, it's been quite a saga with the La Huerta mechanics and the ambulance, but Val and I are working like crazy to be sure we have a working ambulance and a well-trained crew. I'm hoping the ambulance will be back in our community by Semana Santa!

The ambulance crew was really helpful, using someone’s van and a stretcher, transporting Brandon, and setting him up with an IV (He fell and was injured after the solstice celebration.) However, it was touch and go for awhile, getting some help. It turned out that both Dr. Gaby and Dr. Marta were out of town, and apparently the clinic is no longer available 24/7, and Dr. Hector was not here, either. We need a bilingual volunteer to get the emergency services document updated, too. So that at least people know they are calling numbers that MIGHT lead them to some help. If you want to do that, you wouldn’t be starting from scratch. You just need to research what new services have become available, since the old chart was created, (like the state-of-the-art “new” hospital in Cihuatlan) and check if the phone numbers of the other services are still valid. Is there a volunteer who would do that? Spread the word! 3151075198
