Tragedy can result from vehicles on beach Posted by Carol on March 26, 2022, 3:44 pm A young person died from injuries recently, when he was hit by a truck on a beach in Manzanillo. This information is from a Facebook post; though I haven’t verified it, I believe everyone should be aware of the danger, and help to stop the vehicle traffic on our beach here in La Manz. Driving on the beach is illegal, yet it seems the law is not being enforced. I told Guillermo, our delegado, about my concern. He agreed that vehicles on the beach are illegal. I’m not sure how he will enforce the law, but if everyone would speak to him, maybe it would become a priority. This is a good time to do this, just before Semana Santa. Let’s see if we can make a difference.

Might want to be a little subtle when raising your camera.

Many driven by children. The increase in campground and cabana development on beach likely contributing. In any case , one main area for vehicle beach access is the North side of the cemetery. Someone thought a suggestion to the Delgado to construct a turnstile type of access to the beach would prohibit some vehicular access but still allow pedestrians to enter there. Enforcement , of course, would be even more important.

Blocking it would reduce beach traffic enormously. I hope it is considered soon. So far dogs have been the fatalities but as traffic increases we can expect more accidents!

I have only seen it on the FaceBook post but nowhere else in the news. If it actually occurred, I am sure it would be widely reported. Not to say it didn't happen, it would be a tragedy if any vehicle (quad, motorcycle, car or truck) hit someone on the beach, buried or not.
