Last Week for Raffle Posted by Valerie D on March 28, 2022, 10:32 am Yup, this is the last week to purchase raffle tickets for the lovely painting buy Efran Gonzales to repair the Kiosk in the Jardin. Our village has always made its living off the land and sea, and Apache created this beautiful Kiosk as a tribute to the Sea and as a place where people can join in the sharing of life’s stories, joys and laughter. After 23 years, though, it needs a lot of work to bring it back to its glory and this is where you can help. We are just over half way there to meet the costs to repair and it would truly be wonderful if this could be done for Semana Santa. It wouldn’t take too many days, but without the funds it simply can not be done. Please, if you have not purchased a ticket, please consider doing so ~ $50 pesos each or 5 for $200 pesos.

" With many, many thanks to those who purchased the raffle tickets and those who outright donateed to the cause, we managed to raise $8,550 to help repair the kiosk! Together we can accomplish GREAT things.

But you may want to mention that Richard aka Apache is going to (gladly) do the work for free, as there was not enough funds to pay the quality of worker needed to do the actual repair.

I just talked with Apache (aka Richard) and we did reach the estimated cost of materials for repairs. Apache and an experienced helper will undergo the repairs at no cost . . . But . . . as this will be the last large project undertaken by Apache I understand that surprises are in store to make this truly spectacular. So, everyone, keep an eye on the Kiosko and watch the message board as I will be posting pictures as the repairs are conducted. A very special thank you goes out to Apache. He built this Kiosko 23 years ago while watching couples and families gather in the jardin, guitar players in the background, sharing stories and experiences. Now we are very lucky, indeed, that he is willing to share his time and experience to bring the Kiosko back to its’ original splendour ~ with a new twist!
