Should we still come? Posted by Ashley Miller on October 12, 2022, 4:40 pm Hello, My family of 4 and I have a trip booked to La Manzanilla mid-November but it looks like a lot of flooding and rain and washed out roads etc. I know it's challenging for anyone to say oh November will be great or lousy but I'm looking for honest assessments of what La Manz is like right now. We would be driving from PVR and my children are very small so safety is a concern. I greatly appreciate any feedback or advice. We love La Manzanilla so much. Ashley and Family

We get some heavy rains and washed out roads every year, but they are always back to normal by the time the tourist season starts (early November). Life in LaManz is as usual!!

My past experience is that the town recovers extremely fast after flooding or other natural occurrences, I think you will be pleasantly surprised how the town and ajoining areas look. It will be very green, a little humid and very welcoming. Oh yes, we will be there at the same time as your family.

But I have to leave to return to Chapala where I can navigate a surgery in GDL in closer proximity. The reason I wont be back to live here for the rest of my life is having experienced the earthquake shake. My container house rocked severely like a bad carnival ride. Then the three days of rain we had from Orlene wiped out the roads pretty bad here in the barrio away from the beach. I was going downtown and had to turn back home. Like someone else said,it is fixed up in a day or so overall. I think I am not cut out for these adventures. However, I will miss this sweet town, a real shangrila. If you get any storms coming in when here, I would definitely head for higher ground after seeing what happened in Florida.
