Injured goats Posted by Kathy on March 15, 2023, 11:37 am Just saw a pickup truck transporting seriously injured goats to a place on the beach near Imix. Does anyone know what happened to them? It looked like they had been attacked by another animal.

There were two more dead goats in the yard. They belong to Chico, Irene's husband. He told me that dogs had killed and maimed many goats at his private, fenced property, even more than were in the truck and the yard. The injured goats would all have to be killed. He says the dogs belong to Valentin, of the 'dog rescue'. He also said these dogs have been running wild for some time now. I thought it best not to take a photo - it was a bloody scene, and Chico was very upset.

Valentine may have some big problems, each goat is worth quite a bit of money that he may have to pay.

I have been told by trustworthy locals that Valentin's dogs had nothing to do with this, that it was a "bad man" whose name they didn't want to mention, but definitely not Valentin.

Re: Injured goats Posted by Julie on March 16, 2023, 6:55 pm, in reply to "Re: Injured goats" Back in 2004 Ciscos Amigos was asked by Hortensia,the pie Lady and Valentino to trap and put down several dogs attacking and killing goats and other farm animals in a location up river. It was extremely difficult for the Vets, here to spay and neuter, to deal with this situation but they did. It’s a shame this is happening again. There is no excuse for this type of dog behavior .

They escaped and went on a rampage…and it is all very sad for all! He is devastated and needs to pay for damages to the goats owner….only fair IMHO!

I guess the problem is that the fence at his rescue isn't good enough to contain the dogs. I hate to see dogs put down, but that seems like the absolutely right thing to do in this case. I was just worried that the usual chisme was circulating without trying to find out the facts first.
