Produce from the School Garden - as well as produce donated from friends - will be available during the Tianguis this Friday, Mar 17th, by 9:30 am. A table will be set up across from the south east corner of El Jardín or central plaza near Cafe del Mar A special thank you to Lupe of Guadalupe's Bikes for donating very beautiful Lucinato kale the last several weeks.
From the garden we will have the usual greens – lettuce, kale, arugula and bok choy (30 pesos each). Don't forget to bring your own reusable bag to the market. We sell a few bags designed to put your greens in.
Peter with freshly harvested produce.
We are still having weekly organizational meetings Saturday mornings at the Garden at 9:30 AM under the ramada.
👨🏾🌾 Come by for a visit or volunteer anytime between 8 AM and 11 AM on Saturday or Monday thru Thursday, when the gate is open and volunteers are working there. Click this link link for directions to the “School for Community Gardening”. The main website is: http://www.huachucagave.com/garden-project
We will try to provide produce to the Friday Tianguis market as long as possible - hopefully through May and even into June. We will have people looking after the garden year round. People may place produce requests with Yessie at La Semilla natural food store.
I love that we can get those white fleshed camotes (sweet potatoes). They taste so different than the usual orange colored ones. They should take over some parts of the garden. And why not? There is lots of room for them to spread out.
