The police do care at their level of caring. They just have to follow procedure. If anything regarding an arrest arrises we will update!

Without basic information about the incident, we have no way to know that. Was the attack random or targeted? In an isolated spot late at night, or in broad daylight? Etc.

Shutting this down does the opposite. With no information the risk is much greater, and people are responding with fear and uncertainty. Perhaps a statement could be issued with regards to individual safety.
