Re: beach conditions Posted by david dagoli on November 13, 2023, 10:15 am, in reply to "beach conditions" The beach in La Manzanilla is covered with a huge amount of gravel and rocks, all the way to the pantheon - a result of the storm surge of Hurricane Lidia. It’s the largest amount of rocks that we have seen in the 17 years we’ve been here. When entering the water - at least at our house, just past Quinta Valentina - there is a big drop-off a few metres in. Take care, you can go for a tumble. Some businesses are ‘cleaning’ the beach in front of their places, which involves a back-hoe moving the piles of rocks lower down at low tide, and moving clean sand up higher to cover. This year it’s a lot tougher to do this. There are still lots of pangas parked on the streets in town, meaning it’s not easy for the fishers to get their boats in and out of the ocean. There is talk that La Huerta is going to do something, but no idea when.
