Good News About Mail Posted by Lynne on November 29, 2023, 1:14 pm Ever since the death of Gustavo Guzman, there has been no regular mail pickup for residents of La Manzanilla. Now, my trustworthy friend, Alma, has been authorized to do it. Ernesto at the Melaque Post Office will call her the first week of every month when all the bills are in, and I will notify you via this board. The system will remain the same: an individual's mail can be picked up at her home for 5 pesos per each item of domestic mail and 10 pesos for international mail. I will provide her full name, number, and directions to her home when she has picked up December's mail. People with Post Office boxes are still responsible for getting their own.

Mail and packages for us have been piling up for months at the Melaque PO because no one was authorized to retrieve them.

It's easy to do and cheap. And it's available every business day.

Most people here have Motos or need to take the bus back and forth to Melaque, then walk to the post office for mail that might not be there...wasting half a day or missing work. This system was put in place for locals, not retired people from El Norte.

Kimberly, I would go to the post office to see if your missing US mail is there. Endi, I am not disclosing any information about Alma until she actually has mail. Yes, this has been a real mess since we lost Gustavo, especially for the folks who refuse to check the La Manzanilla Life Facebook page.

She said no one wants to do it. I will try to talk to the Delgado on Friday.

He has a business with regular business hours here in La Manzanilla. He also has a car and commutes weekly to Barra so a stop in Melaque to collect mail would be easy.
