I don't really like California as a permanent location. It's too hot there. This is bad for people with heart problems. I prefer to live in a moderately cool climate. That's why I completely moved to Canada last year.

I also don’t like California because of the high cost of any real estate in good areas. I moved to Canada five years ago and I don't regret it. I bought an old house but made good repairs by changing windows sizes - https://windowtechcanada.ca/what-you-should-know-about-standard-window-sizes/ I now have triple glazed vinyl windows. This is reliable protection against adverse weather conditions in winter.
