I’ve been running a small SaaS tool for managing appointments, and for the first year I only worked with freelancers. It was fine while everything was still experimental, but now I’m noticing that progress is getting inconsistent. Some weeks things move fast, other weeks I feel like I’m just explaining the same system over and over again. I’m trying to figure out what actually changes when people switch to dedicated developers — is it just better coordination, or does it really change how the product evolves long term? I also saw digis group while reading about different team setups, but I’m still unsure what the real day-to-day difference is.

I’ve been in that exact transition with a SaaS analytics tool we built for small businesses. With freelancers, things were very task-based — you give a request, you get a result. It worked fine early on, but once the system got more connected, that model started slowing everything down. When we switched to a dedicated setup, the biggest change wasn’t even technical skill — it was continuity. The team already understood the architecture and past decisions, so we stopped spending time re-explaining context. Over time, that made development feel more “flowing” instead of fragmented, especially when working on features that touched multiple parts of the system.
