I have been very busy fishing both Honeoye and Conesus. It has proved to be a test at times. Both lakes have been good but not consistent in how the fish are positioned and what they are biting.
Honeoye has a major algae bloom and the fish seem to be in the weeds and tight to cover. This makes them a little harder to catch for the less experienced angler. Catch rates are in the 20-30 range for two to three people on a 5hr. trip. Zoom Baby Brushogs have been working when I doctor them up a bit. Greenpumpkin/red has produced the best.
Conesus Lake water is much cleaner and the fish were hitting Zoom Salty Centipedes in watermelonseed. Some were also caught on brushogs in the same color. The biggest fish were caught where there was access to deep water close by. Eary in the morning there was a fair to good topwater bite on a chugbug. If you cast a wacky rigged trick worm to the outside weed edge it would produce an average sized bass.
Wear you life jacket and good fishing.
