Melody and I had the opportunity to fish Conesus Lake last Friday with Fred from Avon Anglers. It was a perfect morning with just a ripple on the water and a nice splash of warm sunshine. We ran north from the NYS launch and started fishing a stretch of shoreline, starting deep and working our way shallow. We tried Senko type baits, crankbaits, jigs and tubes. It didn't take long for the bass to tell us tubes were on the "main menu". A nice 36"+ pike topped off the morning. Thanks Fred. We normally don't get to relax and just fish, so this was a treat. We enjoyed your company.
My advice for this cold water is to fish slow. The bass were very light colored, indicating that they have moved shallow from deeper water. Wear your life vest, and be careful with your boat wake.
