My granson is visiting and we spent the evening on Honeoye, August 17th. He has learned to use both spinning and a bait casting rod set up for worm fishing. Trick worms worked the best and the bite was slow for Honeoye. Depending on the location we were fishing, we had to switch between wacky rigs and Texas rigs. When we a Texas rigged a Zoom baby brush hog,it fooled the bass.
Conesus Lake has been her typical self by delivering good fish and being stingy. Jigs, wacky rigs, Texas rigs and almost any other method will fool the bass. I have fished all over the lake and the bass are, either, real active, or you have to put the bait right on them. They have not been in a chasing mood. Thursday, I had a couple of fish hit the bait on the fall so the activity level was up. A mix of colors worked along with different styles of bait. Trick worms and centipedes were dependable and some nice fish were caught and released.
