Finger Lakes and Fulton County

Our season is winding down, and we are preparing for the long drive to central Florida. Each year the work load increases, and as we age, our pace slows. New adventures beckon and maybe, just maybe, this will be the year of a double digit bass. Keuka lake was stingy in early October and mostly small bass were caught. Honeoye Lake was in good spirits, and the bass were very active. We caught fish at every place we stopped, but the south end of the lake produced the most and largest fish. Conesus Lake’s Tuesday night tournaments have ended and with the colder weather, you can catch some huge smallmouth bass. This is a fun time to be on the water, but practice C & R. Canandaigua’s ramp at the north end of the lake is closed, but if you want to fish, the Woodville launch at the south end is open. The spinnerbait bite for smallmouth bass is working. Tubes, silver buddys and jigging spoons will also take a bunch. We spent this past weekend in Fulton county and fished Peck’s Lake and Sacandaga Lake. On Peck’s, we managed some largemouth and pickerel, while the Sacandaga produced some nice smallmouth bass. Peck’s is a private lake and motor size is restricted. You could spend years on Sacandaga and never fish the same spot twice. We could not spend as much time fishing as we wanted due to other activities, so we just experienced a small portion of these bodies of water. Consider Fulton county as a place to visit and try your angling skills. Watch for our Florida fishing reports, and feel free to visit our websites at mudlines.com or centralfloridabassinwithfrank.com. For you who read the fishing reports, I can’t stress the importance of safety. Wear your life vest and maintain a proper lookout. Good fishing, Frank
