Saturday I guided Tom and his daughter Cora on Honeoye. We were going to do an afternoon trip but the weather forecast convinced us to change the trip to an early morning outing. We started at 7 A.M. and went to the east side where the topwater bite had been working. The bite was slow so we went north and switched to Texas rigged Zoom Salty Centipedes. Green pumpkin worked all day. Cora, who is nine managed to boat 18 bass. Tom, as usual loaded the boat. Just a fun time when kids do well and get so excited. |
Sunday was going to be a morning trip and the rain cleared just in time for our 9 A.M. start. Dave and his son Mason wasted no time in getting the bass to hit wacky rigged Bass Pro Shops Stiko baits. We started at the north end and finished up along the west side of Honeoye. Mason, who is nine, boated 28 bass on Honeoye and his smile told you how well he had done. Green pumpkin stikos rigged on a 2/0 EWG hook did the trick.
The advisory on Honeoye and Canandaigua because of the high water has been lifted. Be safe, wear your life vest and maintain a proper lookout.
