Can you believe it's almost August!?!?!?! I'm so far behind on my writing.
This weekend was jam-packed here in New York. On Friday, Rachelle and I met some of our friends at a rooftop bar called "Soaked". What a dumb name!
We realized when we got there that we were kind of crashing a birthday party for someone we didn't know. Luckily, the husband throwing the party was RICH!!! I know he was rich because in about three minutes of conversation he mentioned the following things:
A) He is a very high profile lawyer who worked as co-counsel on the Fannie Mae case (which means he is also looking out for the little guy, big business)
B) He is so important that he was getting work all over the country that he couldn't physically get to ... so he bought a plane and hired a private pilot instructor to accompany him everywhere until he got his license
C) He's on the waiting list for a million dollar new Cessna

D) He's a member of the Porsche club ... has been for years ... and he brings his three year old daughter to events so she can shit talk other Porsche drivers
E) He "lives" in Cincinnati, but has a place in Chicago, is looking for a place in NYC, has a place in South beach, spends a lot of time in Palm beach ...
F) Came directly from Louis Voutinne where he picked up some very expensive purple loafers (which he was wearing)
and G) Covered the table service at the bar: an $1100 bottle of Stoli and a smaller $500 bottle of Stoli (and that's just while we were there). Remember that that was literally the three minutes Rach and I talked to him. Very exciting. NOT.
Then, on Saturday, we woke up late but decided to head to the beach anyway. We went to Robert Moses beach on Long Island.
It was nice and relaxing, but the water was f u cking COLD! We came home and went to a restaurant right by our house called Franny's (reviewed in GQ). It was good. I had a Pimm's cocktail that was amazing.
Sunday, we were going to go rock climbing, but instead headed to REI in the tourist hell of SoHo so that Rach could buy a bike helmet.
Of course they didn't have any, so we had to go to a small shop where we were served by the bike shop equivalent of Todd Louiso in High Fidelity.
Then we headed to Lincoln center to watch Kronos Quartet play outside. As soon as we got there, it started raining and didn't stop until the show was over. They did a collaboration with Dan Deacon and a cell phone app, so that was cool.
I also won an ebay auction for a new freewheel for my bike so that it doesn't make such a loud annoying noise.
We'll see what a bike shop will charge to wrench the old one off and install this new one. Also, I learned how to true my bike wheels. They sure needed it!
Now I'm just trying to write write write about meth meth meth!
