It's a less funny, non-ironic British working class play that is the most cliched, apolitical look at the problems of Thatcherite Britain I've ever seen! Billy Elliott and The Full Monty were much better.
The shipbuilders being squeezed out by neoliberal privitization, anti-union tactics, and globalization decide to build one last ship and sail it away EVEN THOUGH NONE OF THEM ARE SAILORS! This last ship is not a political protest and the company that owns the shipyard doesn't even try to stop them. They just sing a lot of songs about how they build ships and then a ship is built. It's like a much worse season 2 of the Wire:
Good thing the bistro skinhead was in the cast...
Although I thought the Sting character's costume was a little much...
There's also a stupid love story/deadbeat dad story that gives you great songs like this:
The highlight for me was all the working class factory dancing
I give it one Buddy!
