The NMMRA Non-Winged Sprints are back for round 2 of their 9 scheduled shows this year. Can the #62 of Bill Mitchell make it 2 in a row or will one of the Father / Son duo of Randy & Ronnie Smith take the win. Maybe the NAPA sponsored #16 of Tom Ball or the #24 Russell Gossett car being driven by Jason Tanner this year. How about another Father / Son duo with the #7 Bill Richards car being driven by Jesse Baker or dad Bo Baker in the Jackson Equipment #22B. Another strong possibility is the #17M of Peoria, Arizona driver Mike Colegrove who was WAY FAST last time out but broke and DNF’d. The list goes on and on with over 20 top notch drivers on hand to sling their mighty beasts sideways through the corners.
The A-Mods have pretty much been dominated by Moriarity’s Josh Cain in the 3J car, but he has been getting some strong competition from the #58 of Clint Miller from Los Alamos, the #75 of Bob Harter out of Farmington and the #31 of Gallup racer Doug Goodenough. How about that, 4 of the top drivers from different areas of N.M. Who knows maybe we will see some drivers from down south show up and give Cain some more competition?
The X-Mods have been FANTASTIC this year with 24 cars on hand last time out, will we see a B-Main for the first time in a long while? This is another class that has the possibility of a Father / Son finish as the #0 of J.R. Bonesteel and his dad Steve Bonesteel in the #00 finished 1st & 3rd last time out. The Bonesteel’s will have their work cut out for them with a large group of drivers hot on their heels. Will Saturday be the night for the #62 of Tom Melloy, the #37 of Rob Haaland, #29 of Mike O’Neal or maybe the #54 of Tim Hooper or the #23 of Andy Genson Jr. to take the win.
The Street Stocks have had some really close racing with nobody absolutely dominating. These cars look like the Late Models of several years ago and run like them also. Can youngster R.C. Combs in the beautiful #53 make it 2 in a row or will he be upset by the 8X of Mario Truden Jr. or maybe one of the NAPA Sponsored cars of #98 Toy Fisher or the #99 of Joel Duke. Last time out the heat race winners in this class were rubbing door handles and banging wheels at the checkered flag.
The Cruisers are sure to put on a good show as they try to chase down the #33 of Devon Gates who likes to set sail on the outside edge of the track as he moves through the field. Gates will have his hands full with the #15 of Cheyanna Yates and the 4M of Rob Moseley or maybe the “Grocery Getter” station wagon of #0 Gary Smith will get back to the winners circle.
The Hornet Class saw the winning streak of Patricia Gallegos in the #06 come to an end with the #95 of Andrew Fowner taking the win last time out. Richard Garcia in the #94 has been right on the back bumper of Fowner and Gallegos so could he take his first win of 2013? These little 4 bangers really get em wound up and put on some great close racing.
The Mini-Sprints have had a nice field of cars every week and put on some of the closest racing action at NAPA Speedway as they run on the ¼ mile track and never get more than a few feet away from each other. Almost any of the top 8-10 cars could take a win this week. Keep your eyes on the #2 of David Gay, #4L of Kristi Smith, #4S Spencer Hill and the #17 of Jacob Johnston as they have run at the front all year.
The Dwarf cars have truly been dominated by J.C. & Ryan Gilleland from Colorado as they have finished 1st & 2nd in every show so far this year. These little cars with the big 1200cc motorcycle engines really fly on the 3/8 mile track. Will someone show up this week to unseat the Gilleland stranglehold on this class????
Come out and join us for exciting, side by side, fender rubbing, tire smoking, fuel burning racing action on the Dirt Track @ NAPA Speedway this Saturday night at 6:00 P.M.
Have A Great Day
God Bless Everybody
