I didn't get full names of some of the drivers and I am sorry for that, but here is what I was able to get. Some name were familiar but others I didn't know. Bumper Jones did a great job in #19 Late Model, some guys are always fast.
In the Sport Mods #22 of Joey Clemmons was the man to beat and no one did, he runs the only Mopar at this show. Julie Butler in #97 showed well with a second in the main with Tony Hill #007 coming in third.
The Mini sprints were FAST on the Aztec oval. Lynn Hinsley (track announcer, who is GREAT by the way) told the crowd that Patrick Hurtado in his #07 Mini was within .001 second lap time of the fastest Late Model there. WOW. Patrick took both the Mini heat and main. Johnston and Hill took second and third.
The A Mods were unreal, I would have loved to see how #3J of Josh Cain would have faired against this crowd. There were cars from AZ, NM, UT, TX and CO. The fastest seemed to be R.C. Whitwell in the #24 car. He ran full throttle all the way around the track.
The Street Stocks had a nice field of cars (sadly none from NAPA) they ran 4 heats as did the Late Models. Sorry but I didn't get the final results on them. To say their main was wild would be an understatement. Lots of banging, 4 wide racing and many spins. The main lasted almost an hour since about every 3 laps was a yellow flag.
The Late Models were FAST. Jeff Wyman from Albuq. did a respectable job finishing 4th in the Semi-Main and transferring to the main. The #59 of Alan Bowers from Albuq. was driven by Garrett Higgins who used to live in Aztec, but had moved out of state and came in to run this show. Garrett won the LM Semi. Sorry to say I did not stay for the Late Model main since the Street Stock race ran so long.
That's all I have for now. See you all on the 7Th at NAPA Speedway dirt track.
