We had a strong field of cars with 81 cars taking the green.
The first and only Street Stock heat was a little on the wet side down low, but saw good racing action in the middle and on the high side. It was the night for the Mario Trudens, father and son, taking First place for dad and Mario Jr. second. Rick Valdez #73 was running strong and could have taken the lead if any mistakes would have been made.
The Mini Sprints put on their normal wild and wooly race on the short track. Patrick Hurtado #07 won with #4S of Spencer Hill and Kaylee Dons giving chase. Since I addressed their main in my last post I wont go into that crazy race again. Enough said that #17 Of Jacob Johnston took the season Championship.
Again the NMMRA non wing sprints put on some of the best racing seen in Albuquerque for a long time. All season long this group of talented drivers has put on one heck of a show for the fans. On any week any one of 7-8 drives would win the main. Since the rains came after two other division mains, the Sprints did not get to run a main. In the three heats the following drivers put it all on the line to take podium positions. Heat #1 Jason Grady #45, #4 Jerrill Higgenbotham, #99 Chuck Jackson.
Heat#2 saw #26 Of Randy Smith take the lead from his pole position and never look back. He did get some late race challenges from #7 Jesse Baker and #19 of Ronnie Smith.
Heat#3 Had Josh Grady #12 take the win over #62 of Bill Mitchell and #22 of Bo Baker.
The X-Mods again showed a great field of cars, with 22 taking green flags. Heat#1 saw J R Bonesteel come from last row to win in impressive style. Second was hard charging #62 of Tom Melloy, with #14c of Bennie Chavez third.
Heat#2 had #29 of Mike O'Neal start on the pole and run away from everyone else. Second was #1 of Mykal Lucero (who was having one of most fun seasons, per Mykal), then J R's dad Steve in the #00 came in third. In the final heat we say rookie Kevin Hibdon (driving Eric Ford's #87) give the eventual winner Justin Webber a run for the roses. Third place was #78 of Gary Guinn.
Since I have been having computer problems I am not going to push my luck and try to go further. Surfice it say that Dirt Track racing at Napa is some of the best in the country. The track is fast and well banked and any racer would be happy to get to race here every week. I know the season is coming to a close soon, but we will see you all next year. Bring a friend and show they what excitement there is at Napa Speedway.
God Bless
Bob and Ray Ingram
