At my count there were 38 cars taking the green. It was a night for the Dukes of Albuquerque, not the Albuquerque Dukes. Lena Duke took both her heat and the Hornet/Bomber main. Then #99 Joel Duke won the Street Stock main, #69 of George Baston hot on his heals.
They ran an interesting race of "run what you brung" with two of their Super Stock Pro cars, two X Mods and one of Napa's Street Stock cars. The #42D Super Stock Pro driven this week for the first time this season was Andy Goodenough from Gallup. I have seen this car before and it is always fast and up front, and Andy put it there too.
I saw some new cars that had not raced at Napa or UC Speedway before. Ralph Dutcher had his #41 X Mod, Race Safro #2 had his A Mod and Darrel Meaks Sr. had #71 A Mod out.
The A Mods had a nice field of 10 cars and that was without the #3j of Josh Cain, #58 of Clint Miller and #31 of Dough Goodenough. They had two heats with #85h Loren Hovland taking one and #07 of Partick Hurtado taking the other. I will note that several of the A Mod regulars were not their.
The A Mod feature was a wild free for all, with Loren Hovland taking the win. Some might say he hit everything but the Ambulance in his hard charge to the front.
The Cruiser/Pure Stock saw the team of Lynnette and Leo Antionio fight it out for the wins and the track championship in their division, they fought each other like they would any other rival. Lynnette sowed up the Championship in their division.
In the X Mod main it was a wild start. The #87 (sorry I did not get the name) sputtered and went high at the green flag and about five cars tried to fit on the front straight and tangled with some cars on top of others. Dwayne Hatten driving the #4x car was involved but was able to rejoin the field and take the win. #28 of Skimmer Latham and #02 of Snelling unable to restart, poor Skimmer cant seem to catch a break of late.
Those are all the notes I have, the track did say they are hoping to have 60+ cars for their special show next week, with several Napa drivers already signed up.
God Bless
Bob and Ray Ingram
