Great field of cars. 18 A-Mods, over half came from Albuquerque and Grants. Most of the Hatten and Hovland clans showed up as well as Todd Budlong (first race this year),Josh Cain, Lugi Truden, Kevin Hibdon, Tom Melloy and Rob Haaland.
Lugi Truden #13 looked good and won his heat but had handling problems in the main and spun or he could have been a threat. Josh Cain #3J started on pole of main and no one laid a glove on him. Second in A Mod main was #29f of Charlie Felker and their class champ for 2013 Regan Tafoya #24 in third. In the main #45x Todd Budlong had a tire go down just before the green and took a "hot pit" to replace tire, but came out just as the green flew and he started 18th dead last, his strong effort took him to eight place but he ran out of time and by then the top three were half a lap out ahead. GREAT to see so many fast A Mods. As for the Sport Mods as they call their X Mods, Rob Haaland was the fastest of NAPA cars taking fifth in their main.
Joel Duke was the class act of the Hobby class as they call the cruisers up there. He beat their division champ of this year #13 of Randy Dorsett for the main event win.
In the Hornet class they only had 6 cars and three of them were from NAPA and all but two painted pink in honor of cancer awareness event. Andy Fowner, Jolene Fowner and Patricia Gallegos led the rest by half a lap.
All in all it was a great show. The track was perfect. The field of cars was strong and the action brisk. Sadly their great track announcer Lynn Hinsley told the crown this was his last race. He is going to become a fan in the stands. See you all next season.
God Bless
Ray and Bob Ingram
