Another fast night at Motiva Motor Speedway. Track was fast and smooth. Over 20 Sprint Cars, and 11 Modified's. The Modified division had the Los Alamos regular Clint Miller #58 in a duel with the 3J of Josh Cain winning the main. Absent was one of the track favorites of #45x Todd Budlong. The street stocks still had R.C. Combs coming home winner for the third week in a row, with Cheyanna Yates hot on his tail. Cheyanna got to show R. C. her nose a couple of times but R.C. held her off.
The Cruisers had the XMod hot shoe of Rick Boelter driving the new X1 that is to be Daysha Boelter's ride to a feature win.
The Hornets had a short field of 5 cars with the #99 of Lena Duke taking her heat and #98y of Coulter Morgan getting the checkered for the main.
The Mini Sprints had a good field with 14 cars. For the first time this year we saw NMMRA Sprint driver Cody Dons driving his sisters #24K, and he showed it does not matter what size sprint he is driving he is fast. The heat races were won by Spencer Hill in the #4S and #07 of Patrick Hurtado (who broke in the main or he might have won that too ). Following in the heats were #7 Gerrad Warhurst from El Paso and #22 Robert Turner who finished second in the main. Sadly we had our first on track injury to the lovely Brianna Franchini #5f when a car spun right in front of her, sending her to the hospital win a wrist injury. Lets all pray for her speedy recovery.
Now for the wild and crazy stuff. NMMRA NON WING SPRINTS. What can I say, this group of drivers puts on a show worth twice the admission price. There were enough competitors to put on 3 very fast heats. #24 of Robert Marfia in the Russel Gosset machine took the first heat with Farmington hot shoe of Jason Grady #45x hot on Robert's tail. The second heat has last years NMMRA champ Jesse Baker #7 win with El Paso driver Don Grable in second. This is the third week in a row Don has made the trip from El Paso and taken the $$$ home, great driver and glad to see him come up to race with us. The third heat had the other Grady, (Jason #12J ) take the win with #62 of Bill Mitchell putting on a good show. Bo Baker #22M took third (spoiler alert) Bo also won the Main in style.
The NMMRA Sprint main was WILD and very fast with Bo Baker leading from lap 2 to the end. Not because it was easy, but Bo and the other racers in this division are good pilots. Bo was chased most of the race by the Grady's who put on a clinic for how to drive fast and smooth. #12J of Josh Grady looked especially hungry for a win. Glad that these two fellows tow all the way down to race with us.
Be sure to come out and join us in two weeks when the NMMRA Sprints will be back for round 3, and may have a field of 28-30 cars. Joining the Sprints will be the A-Mods, Street Stocks, Cruisers, Hornets and Mini-Sprints.
Have A Great Day
God Bless Everybody
