The GoKarts were once again a blast to watch, and the crowd was getting into it as well! Brennan Morlang put the #24B out front early and held off a strong charge from his cousin and points leader Jasmine Morlang for the win. The main saw nearly each of the six drivers get thier turn at leading a lap but once Jasmine took the lead, it was all the #18 machine as she went on for the win, holding off Brennan Morlang and Paige Scott who rounded out the top 3.
The Pure stocks were joined by a couple hornets who have been running up a class to get some seat time this week. This weeks heat winner went to the Victory Lane Tires and Wheels #22A of Anne Martinez as she put that grey and red camaro on the bottom and ran away with it. The main event was a different story as Martinez was involved in multiple cautions. Having to go from the back to the front on two separate occasions served to be a tall order for the heat race winner as Leo Antonio was near perfect in the main event, putting the Pure Pride Construction #037 in victory lane. The racelong battle for second had the enthusiastic crowd on thier feet as Martinez dove low coming out of turn four to make one last effort for the second spot. Lynette Antonio gave it all she had but at the line it was Martinez besting the two time defending champion at the line for second. Gabriella Olivar came home fourth and mini sprint regular, Spencer Hill rounded out the top 5.
The Street Stock division saw some new faces last night with David Gaddis from Grants, NM and Derek Nacki from Gallup, NM joining the field this weekend. The heat race was won by front row outside starter George Baisden in the Motor Machine Racing Engines #69 out of Milan, NM. The Main event saw some close racing throughout the field but nobody was catching the Riverside AUto & DIesel #96 of Keith Ford out of Grants, NM who was hands down the fastest car at the track this weekend. Ford went on to win the feature while Baisen overcame a late race challenge from Morlang for second. Gaddis and Nacki rounded out the top 5.
The X-Mods were shy on car count as well with several drivers sidelined thos week for mechanical problems as they prepare for the I-40 Showdown later this month. Chris Morlang put the Black and white #22 out front for the heat race win and completed the clean-sweep in the main over Kemery Ward and Scott Morlang. It was not as easy as Chris may have wanted as SCotty made that #24 machine as wide as possible for the first half of the race and looked as if he may have what it takes to hold off the two xmod drivers for the win. In the end the older brother found a way around the 24 machine to go on for the win. The crowd seemed to like the sibling rivalry as it was the race that had everyone talking in the pits about how exciting it was to see the race-long 2 car battle for the win!
We take this coming weekend off before hitting the home stretch for the season championships with 7 consecutive weeks of racing.
