Some mighty fast late models are here for this weekend at Aztec Speedway. The CDM late models compete in the southwest and should field about 20 or more cars. What's up for grabs.....1500 to win tonight and 2500 tomorrow night. The Border States Racing Series completes it's 2014 tour here this weekend for the IMCA modifieds and the IMCA sport modifieds. A champion will be decided in both classes in this show. $1000 to win both nights for the modifieds. Sport Modified payout in the air for now. The IMCA stock cars appear to be set for a record turnout with over 30 expected. Last count showed 14 stock cars coming here from over 400 miles away. $1000 is the winner's share each night with more money possibly being added to that number. Contingency prizes abound for this class as a result of some hard work by Steffan and Maygen Carey. The Border States Racing Modifieds will also have "Best of the West" dash for cash with $500 going to the winner. Two national Championships could possibly be decided this weekend. Zane Devilbiss is currently 5 points ahead in his race for the title. This would be Zane's 2nd national championship if he maintains his lead. Also, in the Sport Modifieds, Julie Boettler could take the national championship in that division. She is currently 6 points behind the leader. Julie would make history if she can overtake the points lead as she would be the first woman to ever win a national title in IMCA sport modifieds. To have two Aztec Speedway drivers racing for a national championship just simply speaks volumes about the racing talent in this area. Seven drivers in four classes, that call Aztec Speedway their home track, have a total of almost 100 wins at 8 tracks this season. Want to see some great racing by some of the best? Then come out to Aztec Speedway tonight and tomorrow night. We race at 7pm. I'll see you there!
