One of two nights of racing at Aztec Speedway is complete with Ricky Alvarado adding yet another win to his portfolio. Alvarado along with eleven other drivers advanced into the 25 lap main by way of finishing first or second in their respective heat races. The rest of the field of 24 cars was decided with a 12 lap B main. Regan Tafoya notched the win there with Nick Nelson a close 2nd. In the 25 lap (caution filled) main event, Aaron Spangler was the early leader with Ryan Gaylord of Denver and Brody Spangler chasing him. Alvarado took over around lap 10 and was only challenged closely in the final two laps by Zane Devilbiss. The difference was only 0.395 sec. Gaylord held on for 3rd with Regan Tafoya 4th and Brody Spangler in 5th. Finishing out the rest of the field in order: Garret Funk, Michale Hale, Darell Bradford, Aaron Spangler, Eddie Martin, Beau Speicher, Casey Delp, Shane Devilbiss, Bryan Wordelman, Joe Miller, Jody Cornell, Wade Taylor, Danny Bradford, Bubba Alvarado, Don Roberston, Tyrone Yazzie, Chase Ruble, Christian Johnson. Nick Nelson DNS (engine). Heat race winners were: Chase Ruble, Brody Spangler, Shane Devilbiss, Michael Hale, Ricky Alvarado, and Casey Delp. The 25 lap sport modified feature started 21 cars and also had it's share of cautions. Eleven cautions to be exact. Mostly for debris as a lot of bumping and banging was going on. Jordan Eddleman quickly took the lead away from pole sitter Chuck Delp and never looked back. Eddleman cruised to victory with Joey Klemish 0.916 sec. behind him. Taking 3rd was Robert Gaellgos, with 4th going to Jessie Baldwin in Bub Hughe's car and 5th went to Rex Higgins. Sixth on back were: Darrell Cordary, Luke McCormick, Dakota Kibel, RL Henley, Mike Theissen, Dillon Terry, Doug Pate, JC Yates, Ryan Henley, Paul Miller, Josh Pate, Calen Wilkens, Jason Hockinhull, Bill Ferguson, and Richard Trujillo. Heat race winners were: Dakota Kibel, Jordan Eddleman, Jessie Baldwin, and Robert Gaellgos. On a side note....Jessie and Ricky Baldwin could not start the main due to 110 gallons of bad fuel they had purchased. Four Corners Family Dental sponsored the $250 dash for cash. Joey Klemish in his Mopar car #22 accepted the check from Dr. Tyler Mann. A pit bike will be the prize for Sat. night's dash and it is also provided by Four Corners Family Dental of Farmington. Part two of the Havoc on the Plains will take place Saturday night (tonight). More cars are expected at the gate. A total of 35 modifieds and 24 sport modifieds checked for the first night. Come on out to Aztec Speedway. We race at 7pm. |
