Aaron Spangler took down the 20 lap modified feature after passing Allen Bradley in the first 6 laps. Spangler adds yet another feature win to his 100 plus IMCA wins. Zane Devilbiss moved up for the 2nd spot with Regan Tafoya 3rd. In fourth was Jeremy Farley and fifth went to Allen Bradley. Sixth on back were: Jody Cornell, Darrell Bradford, Shane Devilbiss, Jeff Jennings, Jason Keeler and rookie driver Pat Castil.
Heat race winners were: Allen Bradley and Jeremy Farley.
Another multiple winner took the checkers in the sport modified 25 lap feature. Jessie Baldwin bested 16 other cars for this win but not without a close call on the last two laps. Luke McCormick caught the leader with 2 to go and passed for the lead. As best as I can recall, this is the first time Jessie has been passed once he was in front. McCormick looked as if he was going to notch his first feature win in a sport modified but it was not to be. McCormick entered turn 3 on the last lap a bit too hot and drifted high in turn 4. That was just enough for Baldwin to slip by and take the win by .388 sec. Finishing a close 3rd was Rex Higgins. Fourth went to Jason Hockenhull and fifth to Bryan Carey. Sixth on back were: Randy Dorsett, Bub Hughes, Darrell Cordary, Dylan Terry, Paul Miller (shown a lap down), Mike Thiessen, Jordan Eddleman (broke while in 2nd), Daniel Miller, Kevin Snow, Bill Dutton, Ricky Baldwin and Marshall Moody. Heat race winners were: Paul Miller and Jason Hockenhull.
Four Corners Family Dental sponsored the Dash for Cash with $250 going to the winner. The stock cars were featured in this dash with 5 of them making the call for the 8 lap dash. Skyler Heath and Larry Bradley raced side by side with Heat pulling out the win. Skyler Heath not only won the $250 cash but also his first win in his short career. Thanks again to Four Corners Family Dental and Dr. Tyler Mann for the continuing sponsorship at Aztec Speedway.
The hobby feature had a first time winner as Brooklynne Kibel put her pink and green #98 into the winner's circle. Josh Smith won the sport compact feature quite handily.
In one of the heat races for the stock cars, Richard Brewer III hit the backstretch wall, climbed upon it and then hit a pole. The rolled onto its' top and a fire erupted in the engine compartment. All ended ok as the young driver was OK. The car....not so good.
We race again in two weeks on April 25th. Make your plans to attend the races at Aztec Speedway.
I'll see you there.
