Another good field of cars and a fast hammer down track from the get go.
Three Cruiser/Hornet heats
Heat 1 saw Ernie Sandoval #80 take off to an early lead with #1 Phil York and #7 Daysha Boelter fighting it out for second and third.
Heat 2 had Lena Duke #99 take off from her pole position and held off a very hard charge from #28 Gray Smith (current point leader) third was brought home by #26 Cody Sanchez.
Heat 3 was #75 of Jared Hensley pull off a big win over #97b of Justin Morgan. Third was #79 Travis Bateman.
Mini Sprints field was again very thin. Only thing of note was Gary Guinn #38 purchased the Travis Oldfield mini and looks like he will be running in that class. Winner was #619 of Lalo Saenz, followed by #72 of Mike Barnes and #22$ of Ian Stroud.
The Street Stocks had enough cars for two heats. We saw the return of Cheyanna Yates and R C Combs, both whom have been missing for a few weeks. The first heat was Ronnie Bell all the way, starting from his outside pole position. A strong second was M74 of Rob Mosley followed closely by 77M Camron Martin. Dan Gross Jr was looking fast and could have given Bell a run for the money, but he DNF for unknown mechanicals.
The second head hat R C Combs #53 and Cheyanna Yates #15 shaping up like one of their old battles, but something caused R C to DNF, That left Cheyanna showing her rear end to the rest of the field. Second was #43 of Dan Gross Sr, followed by a new driver/car #27 LLoyd Crain. Joel Duke started strong and looked like he would be the winner, but a right rear flat with three laps to go caused him to move back in the pack. R C and Rick Boelter were DNF.
The X Mods has a shorter field then their usual 20 cars. The did have two heats. Heat 1 saw Steve Bonesteel take off from his outside pole and lead all but the last lap when a very hard charging Todd Budlong #1X took over in turn three of final lap. Steve second and Clay Gossett #11x looking good in his third spot.
Heat 2 was J R Bonesteel starting on outside pole and running out to an early lead, but Dee Yates in #15 stayed on his tail waiting for a possible error, but J R was smooth and it wasnt to be. Mychal Lucero #1 was right on the rear of Yates for a close 1 2 3 finish.
The Winged 305 Sprints had two heats with Heat 1 going to Wes Wafford by a mile. The #77 of C J Halsey tried to catch him but it just wasnt happening. Paul Whitehead 12P was a close third.
The second heat saw #12 of Jerry Moser take off and never look back, Jesse Baker #40X in the Butch Box machine paced Jerry but could not get enough traction to make a pass.
Like we said. the Mains in all divisions will take off at 11AM Sunday 8/2/15, so if you have your stub come out and bring a friend for some great afternoon racing.
