In the USRA late model feature, twenty cars took the green with Zane Devilbiss leading every lap again, for his back to back wins this weekend. Devilbiss was driving Allen Bowers' car #59. Running 2nd was Fito Gallardo and Billy Roy Harris was 3rd. Fourth went to Jacob Gallardo and fifth to Dave Wheeler. The race was for the most part uneventful with a few yellows toward the end. Sixth on back were: John Ortega, Jeep Berry, Xavier Ortega, Dakota Berry, Christy Georges Barnett, Nita Deetz, Lance Newman, Bob Goetschel, Keko Perez, Dave Garmann, Cory Cox, Dean Moore, Adam Hilton, Larry Jackson and Cliff Hansen. Heat race winners were: Fito Gallardo, Jacob Gallard, John Ortega and Dean Moore. Dr. Dave Deetz did not make the call due to a crash the night before. The Doctor is sore but ok.
The Modifieds provided plenty of action as 20 cars came out for a 25 lap feature. Ricky Baldwin was up front for the first 4 laps in Shane Devilbiss's #43. On lap five, Christy Georges Barnett took over for several laps until a slight slip up coming out of turn 2. Zane Devilbiss and Regan Tafoya went by with Tafoya in front. Then on lap 18, these two went into turn 1 side by side. The two cars touched and Devilbiss went into the wall with the front and back of the car sustaining very heavy damage. Devilbiss was out of the race and out of contention for the track championship. Tafoya was penalized for being involved in the crash and was placed at the back of the field. No problem for a hard charger as he came back up to finish 3rd and take the championship. Christy G. Barnett inherited the lead and went on to win this feature with Aaron Spangler taking 2nd, then Tafoya. In fouth was Ricky Baldwin and fifth went to Nick Nelson. Sixth on back were: Eddie Farley, Danny Bradford, Jason Keeler, Sherman Barnett, Charlie Felker, Derek Neil, George Goshorn, Dave Davis, Patrick Castel, Julian Garcia,Sr., Zane Devilbiss, JJ Harpole, Brandon Tenski, Darrell Bradford and Camron Spangler. Julian Garcia,Jr. did not start. Heat race winners were: Christy Georges Barnett, Derek Neil, Nick Nelson and Danny Bradford.
The sport modified feature had 20 cars come out for a 25 lap race. Kristy Tenski came out swinging as she was up front for 12 laps until the familiar #3 of Jessie Baldwin took over and went on to win his 22nd feature of this season. Balwin is has an unbelievable 50% win average. He has logged 22 wins in 44 starts. Finishing 2nd was Tenski with Shane Helton coming up and taking 3rd. Fourth was Rex Higgins and Bub Hughes took 5th. Sixth on back were: Luke McCormick, Brian Carey, Richard Trujillo, Randy Dorsett, Darrell Cordary, Michelle Reed, Dylan Terry, Bill Dowdy, Jordan Eddleman, Jay Hank, Danny Graham, Mark Merrion, Freddie Brooks, Paul Miller and Sergio Luengas. Heat race winners were: Brian Carey, Kristi Tenski, Jessie Baldwin and Jay Hank.
The stock car feature had 30 cars take the green with Travis Southerlin leading all laps to make it a clean sweep of the Witten's Warriors Weekend. Southerlin pocketed $2,000 for his two wins and a brand new Fisher racing engine provided by Fisher Engines of Texas. Southerlin now has two wins for the 2015 season. Definitely the best two nights to win a race. Finishing a very good 2nd was Skyler Heath. And Greg Gutt of Erie, Colo. was 3rd. Jeramey Bradley and Danny Stevenson rounded out the top five. Somehow my finishing order print out evaporated since last night. An exact finishing order for 6th thru 30th is not available #%@$*&%$. Sorry. I do have the heat finishes and the Dash For Cash. Heat winners were: Travis Southerlin, Ron Brewer, Jeramey Bradley, Steffan Carey, Skyler Heath and Race Fisher.
