Fans at Aztec Speedway were treated to some great, close and fast racing last night with a few new winners. The heat races were run on a bit of a greasy track which normally means fast racing is in store for the features.....and it definitely was. More cars were on tap for the evening with the limited modifieds and stock cars leading the way.
The heat race winners were: Trent Nejara in the hobby stocks, Dakota Kibel in the B-modifieds, Eddie Farley in the A-modifieds, Ron Brewer in the stock cars heat #1, Skyler Heath in stock cars heat #2, Jay Hank in the limited modified heat #1, Bub Hughes in the limited modified heat #2, Bart Small in the sport compacts heat #1 and Jay Hicks in the sport compacts heat #2.
The limited modifieds 25 lap feature saw Chad Tenski take the lead at the drop of the green flag and hang onto that spot for his first win of the season. Jordan Eddleman challenged a few times but had to settle for 2nd spot. In 3rd was Alan Palmer with another top five finish in his first season in this class. Fourth was Darrell Cordary and fifth went to Bub Hughes. 6th back were: Jay Hanks, Sergio Luengas and RL Henley. The rest of the field did not finish....Brian Carey, Jacob Buffington, Anthony Ludwig, Travis Montgomery, Joey Klemish, and Jay Kibel.
The stock car feature was 20 laps of dominate racing by Ron Brewer as he was in front wire to wire to take down his first win of the year. Running a close 2nd was Jeramey Bradley followed in 3rd by Alan Bradley. Fourth went to Skyler Heath and fifth to Samual Sansoni. Sixth on back were: Larry Bradley, Gerald Wright, Traci Bradley, Jordan Hockenhull and Michael Attebury of Lubbock, Tx.
The modified feature was short and fast as seven cars raced for 15 laps with Eddie Farley leading all the way for the win. Second was Zane Devilbiss coming from the back to get close to the winner. Third was Jason Keeler with Dereck Neil fourth and Julie Keeler fifth. Sixth was Charlie Felker and Joey Esquibel.
The B-modified feature was another Rex Higgins show as he won by a half lap over 2nd place Randy Dorsett. Third was Dakota Kibel and fourth went to Kelly Klemm. Fifth and sixth were Robert Cody and Andy Hockenhull.
The hobby feature was a good little race with Bill Dutton leading the first few laps until Brandon Tenski took over in RaNai Toler's car. Brandon went on to win with Dutton 2nd. In 3rd was Jason Duggins and fourth went to Trent Nejara. Fifth and sixth was Michael Cody and Paul Weller.
The sport compact feature had 8 cars going 15 laps with Bart Small taking the win handily. In 2nd was Brittany Yates and Eugene Felker 3rd. FMaourth was Evan Felker and fifth went to Rick McDonald. Sixth and seventh were Jay Hicks and Austin Maxwell.
That's how they ran at Aztec Speedway on a cool last night of April. We race again next Saturday night at 7pm.....I'll see you there.
