Aztec Speedway featured some great dirt track racing Saturday night in the completion of the Ryan Bard Memorial. The featured class of course was the limited modifieds but all classes turned in a superb night of competitive racing. Jordan Eddleman managed to make it a clean sweep in the limiteds as he again won by leading every lap Saturday night. Eddleman's car was very strong as his winning margin over the 2nd place car of Allen Palmer was 6.250 seconds. Palmer put in a nice weekend for a rookie in this class as he scored a 2nd place to go with his Friday night 4th spot. Joey Klemish put one of the two Mopars into the top five with a 3rd ande Bub Hughes came up for 4th with Brian Carey close behind him for fifth. Sixth on back were: Darrell Cordary, Travis Montgomery, Anthony Ludwig, Bill Dowdy, Jay Kibel, Jay Hank and RL Henley. Heat race winners were: Jordan Eddleman and Allen Palmer. Dr. Tyler Mann and Four Corners Family Dental of Farmington sponsored a Dash For Cash. The top 3 cars from each heat race gained a starting spot in the Dash. Travis Montgomery won in an exciting 8 lap run as he beat Darrell Cordary to the flag by only .200 sec. Dr. Mann presented Montgomery with his prize of $250. In the A-modified class, more cars checked in for Saturday night's racing. But once again nobody could handle the Gallardo racing family of El Paso, Texas as Fito Gallardo was in front for the 25 lap race. His son, Jacob Gallardo, was 2nd. This finish was just the opposite of Friday night. Fito pocketed $1,000 for the win. The racing behind these two was intense with cars changing positions on almost every lap. Third spot was claimed by Zane Devilbiss with Aaron Spangler in 4th. These two drivers have over 200 feature wins between them. Devilbiss is a two time national champion including this past year. Fifth spot went to a hard charging Mark Rodgers. Sixth on back were: Austin Adams of El Paso, Eddie Farley, Chase Ruble, Deral Meeks, Sr. of Rio Rancho, N.M., Jason Keeler, Julie Keeler, Doug Goodenough and Deral Meeks, Jr. of Rio Rancho, N.M. Heat race winners were Fito and Jacob Gallardo running sub 16 sec laps. The stock car fature was 25 laps of fantastic racing. The fans were treated to several laps of the leaders running sided by side and swapping the lead four times. Race Fisher managed to make a last lap pass on young Jereamey Bradley and win a close one by .399 sec. Bradley had take the lead from Fisher on the previous lap. A great run from both of these drivers and an especially amazing run for Jeramey as he had rolled his car the night before. In a very close 3rd was Allen Bradley. Fourth was Travis Southerlin followed in fifth by Larry Bradley. Sixth on back were: Michael Farley, Jason Hockenhull, Samuel Sansoni, Ron Brewer, Traci Bradley and Skyler Heath. An early 4 car crash sidelined Sansoni and Traci Bradley. Heat race winners were: Jeramey Bradley and Race Fisher. The B-modifieds were again dominated by Rex Higgins with Andy Hockenhull, Randy Dorsett, Kelly Klemm and Robert Cody following Higgins to the checkers. Higgins also won the heat race. The hobby stock feature had Jason Duggins taking the early lead and pulling away for another win. In 2nd was RaNai Toler with a very strong run and 3rd went to Robert Mason. Fourth was Anne Martinez up from Grants. Fifth and sixth went to Brooklynne Kibel and Trent Najera. Duggins won the heat race. And finally the sport compacts came out and put on an action packed show with Eugene Felker taking the win. Second went to Donny Stock and in 3rd was Brittany Yates. Fourth was Brent Edwards of Milan. Fifth on back were: Alex Southerlin, Evan Felker and Jay Hicks. Heat winner was Eugene Felker. All in all it was a super nice weekend for celebrating the memory of one of our past champions Ryan Bard. Thanks to all for coming out this weekend and congrats to our winners and of course congrats to our graduates Friday night from the Bloomfield and Aztec High Schools. And another big smiling thanks to Dr. Tyler Mann and Four Corners Family Dental. We race again in two weeks at Aztec Speedway. I'll see you there. |
