On Friday night June 3rd the intense battle for the points lead in the A-Mod division on the Paved Oval continued. Cameron Morga entered the competition with a 5 point lead over Ashley Gantt at 356 to 351.
Ashley won the heat race bringing the battle to a tie at 391 points each going into the feature. The feature pays 100 points to the winner. Second place gets 95.
Steve Cunningham flipped a coin to decide if the main starting grid would go in order of the heat finish or be inverted. Based on the flip, Ashley started on the pole for the feature with Cameron on the outside of row 1.
As the green flag fell, the two battled wheel to wheel through turn one and two. Cameron's number 54 pulled ahead on the back stretch and never let go of the lead. In the middle laps, Ashley's number 08 was challenged for second place briefly by Dustin Tilbury in the 17D car. Dustin's tires seemed to go away and Ashley held off the charge. In the final laps the leaders encountered slower traffic and Ashley made a final run at the leader but fell short finishing second with Dustin 3rd.
So Ashley and Cameron ended the night just as they started with Cameron 5 points ahead but this time with 491 to 486.
Car count continues to grow in this division along with the crowd. Also in the A-Mods; car 71, Randy Arndorfer; 95 Gerald Haste and 14 Andrew Fowner.
In the Junior Karts, Aryton Cahan won both heats and Gabriel Cahan won the feature.
Steven Pruitt continued his dominance in the Adult karts Division.
The Factory fours season got off to a slow start with two cars but they were both rookies, Ken Curts and Najma Whitley and they put on a great show with Ken the winner. All the rest of you Factory 4 drivers need to jump in before these two get away in the battle for the Championship.
We will be at it again Friday June 24. Racing starts at 7. Plan to be there, and LET'S GO RACING!!!
LET'S GO RACIN!!!!!!!
