June 24, 2016 Sandia Motor Speedway Paved Oval.
The much anticipated showdown in the A-Mods division failed to materialize Friday night when points leader Cameron Morga was not on hand.
Ashley Gant, who came into the evening trailing Morga by 5 points, took a commanding lead in the race for the championship scoring 185 points on the night for a grand total of 716. Ashley won both the heat and feature.
Gerald Haste made a substantial move as well advancing from third place to second with a total of 652 points. Morga now sits in third with 536 points.
With only 4 nights of racing before the grand finale afternoon doubles on Oct 22 and 23, the field has their work cut out for them.
Dustin Tilbury is 4th at 252 points. Andrew Fowner is 5th with 175 points, Andy Fowner 6th at 158, and Randy Arndorfer 157.
The tightest race now is in the Factory Four Division. Former Champion, Patricia Gallegos returned triuphantly winning the heat and feature moving into a tie for first place with Najma Whatley at 185 points each. Second place is a tie right behind the leaders at 175 points by Ken Curts and Kalen Whithers. Stan Selva is right behind at 167 in a beautiful car we hope to see in the "24 Hours of Sandia" next month.
For the Karts: Ayrton Cahan dominated in the Kids division. Eban Cahan and Mike Shreve were winners in the Adult division.
Robert Sanchez took several laps in a Street Stock. We hope to see the Street Stocks racing at the next Paved Oval event July 29th. Racing starts at 7 PM
