Some solid driving for some and bad luck for others in the racing at Aztec Speedway. The most competitive race of the night had to be the stock car feature. At the drop of the green Race Fisher put the #15 in front and held off Allen Bradley and Larry Bradley along with Aaron Spangler and Skyler Heath for nine laps. Fisher slipped a bit out of turn 2 and Allen Bradley took his #26 to the front bringing Larry Bradley with him. Several laps maintained this order until Larry Bradley dropped out of the action with mechanical woes. And before him, Aaron Spangler had to be pushed to his pit as the car lost power. When the green fell after a caution, Allen Bradley continued to lead with young Jeramey Bradley moving up to challenge him the rest of the way to the checkers. It was close (.200 sec. difference) but not close enough for Jeramey Bradley as had to settle for 2nd. Ron Brewer, after a late spin, managed to get the 3rd spot. Fourth went to Traci Jennings and fifth was Travis Southerlin. Skyler Heath were racing for the 2nd spot a little earlier in this 25 lapper when they got together and both drivers had to pit with flat tires. Heath ended up dropping out of the action with Fisher finishing in 6th. Seventh on back were: Jordan Hockenhull, Skyler Heath, Larry Bradley and Aaron Spangler. Heat race winners were: Traci Jennings and Aaron Spangler.
The limited modifieds came out for their 25 lap feature with Bub Hughes going to the front for 9 laps until Jordan Eddleman moved by on lap 10. Eddleman stayed in front for the rest of the way with a .400 sec. advantage over Bub Hughes. In 3rd was Jay Hank with a good finish for the Mopar car. Fourth went to Allen (I always finish in the top 5) Palmer and fifth was Brian Carey. Sixth on back were: Darrell Cordary, Travis Montgomery, Michelle Reed and Anthony Ludwig. Heat race winners were: Brian Carey and Jay Hank.
The A-modifieds came out for their 25 lapper and simply put, it wan no contest for the winner. Taking the lead on lap one was Zane Devilbiss after he started mid pack. Devilbiss never looked back as he coasted to another win. Derek Neil was strong in his Shaeffer Oil Special #99 but just couldn't mount the charge to take the win from the National Champion. In 3rd was a strong run for Charlie Felker with fourth going to Jeremy Farley and fifth Julie Keeler. Sixth on back were: Robbie Chiles, Jason Keeler, Aaron Spangler (double duty tonight) and Rick Spangler. Rick went out early with mechanical troubles Aaron also dropped out. Heat race winners were: Zane Devilbiss and Aaron Spangler.
Rex Higgins continues his domination in the B-modifieds with another commanding win. He has won every feature at Aztec Speedway in this class. Second was Camron Spangler with his best finish in this class. Third was Andy Hockenhull and fourth went to Randy Dorsett. Fifth and sixth were Robert Cody and Richard Trujillo. Heat race winner was Higgins.
The Hobby stock class is also being dominated. Jason Duggins wins again easily over RaNai Toler, Paul Weller and Trent Nejara. Duggins also won the heat race.
The sport compacts ran a good race with Brittany Yates winning over Jay Hicks with Donny Stock in 3rd and Rick McDonald 4th. Jarrod Felker in his first race here was awarded 5th. Yates also won the hear race.
And that wraps up another night of racing at Aztec Speedway. Thanks to all the sponsors and of course to the race fans. We will race again on July 16th. Also, the July 30th race has been rescheduled for July 23rd. I'll see you at Aztec Speedway.
