Wow, some horrible, some bad, some good and some great comments being made on the message board lately. What we need around here is a LOT more positive messages and a lot less negative messages. Positive criticism helps solve real issues and concerns but negative criticism only makes a bad situation worse and helps nobody. What we need now for dirt track racing in Albuquerque and New Mexico is for all of us who love dirt track racing to work together to make things better. If all drivers, crews, sponsors, family, fans promoters, managers and track workers work together things will only get better. I agree with Chuck Jackson that the worst dirt track race is far better than anything on TV, so lets all work together to make racing the number one entertainment venue in New Mexico.
There have been lots of promoters/managers in New Mexico: Frank Crosby – Speedway Park back when the wheel was still square Dick Shoudt, Chuck Jackson, Imogene Smith – Duke City / Abq. Raceway / 7 Flags Jim Kofakis, Tom Ball, Bobby Seals – Hollywood Hills Speedway Jack Nelson, Mike Hamilton, Mike Tenski – Aztec Speedway Royal Jones – Southern New Mexico Speedway David Swope, Robert Shay, Jim Guthrie, Charlie Fegan – Sandia Speedway
All of these folks have one thing in common, none of them were the best nor the worst promoter in the country, but boy they all gave it their best with the hand that they were dealt.
So lets all get together and work together to make dirt track racing the best it can possibly be. We are lucky to have Sandia, Aztec, Grants, Las Cruces, Carlsbad and Eunice running dirt track racing this year. Lets all go out and support our favorite tracks and have the best year ever in New Mexico Dirt Track Racing
