Tonight was the final Points race for the XMods, Winged Sprints, and Mini Sprints. Mike Barnes took the mini sprint division championship with Chuck Jackson taking Winged 305 sprint championship and Mychal Lucero taking a hard charging win in the XMod championship. Congrats to all.
We had a good field of cars in the Xmods @18 cars, the Cruisers brought out 14 cars and the Street Stocks had 8 cars. The Winged 305's, Mini Sprints each fielded 3 cars. The hornets were off this week.
The track was hammer down fast from the intermission on. One of the fastest I have see this year. If the economy ever recovers and we have this good of a track to race on, car counts could double. Lets hope for both.
The XMod main was the race of the night. J R Bonesteel #0 had a duel with Justin Weber #63 that ran the last 10 laps with the eventual winner being anyone of several. Weber looked good but just could not get past J R. Mike Oneal #29 ran strong for a third in the main and second in the points championship. The #19 Of Patrica Gallegos was faster than we have seen her this years and put on a 5 lap duel with J R that was impressive. It was nice to see the return of #37 of Rob Haaland, him wining his heat, seems he has not forgotten how to get around Motiva quickly. Another stand out was Dan Parks #31 who was quicker than we have seen him with him taking second in his heat to Rob.
The Street Stock main was a fast one. R C Combs #53 started at the back and was fast, but broke, left the track for two laps and returned only to drive into the turns so hard he pulled the right rear tire off the rim, ending his night. Dan Gross Jr #143 was having a great run from the pole and leading 5 laps, with Cheyanna Yates #15 passing him in turn three. The next lap Gross spun and ended his chance for a main event win. Joel Duke looked fast and it appears some of the tune up work he has been doing on the car was working until he developed a misfire that took him out of competition. The night belonged to Ms Yates as she was so fast she actually lapped the second place car.
The Cruiser main was a close and fast event, with many leader changes. The young Madison Conrad #76 started on the pole and lead the first 13 laps and it looked like her night, yet not Cody Sanchez in his #26 was hot on her heals and finally made the pass for the win. A strong Ernie Sandoval #80 was a close third.
The Winged 305 Sprint main was like a train. At the green flag they developed a 3-4 car spread between each racer and you could have tied a rope to each car and they would not have broken it lap after lap. All loved the fast track and each car ran the same lap times. The Winner was James Hatch #52NM with Chuck Jackson and Jerry Moser bringing up the rest of the field.
The Xmod dash for cash was won by #7 of Steven Bertetto with a hard charge by #63 of Justin Weber. Weber seemed to have the set up tonight as he was fast all race long.
