Best season opener I've seen here locally in a long time... Lot of people in the stands. Pits were packed. Not just with racers, but people unaffiliated with cars just hanging out watching. Couldn't even get close to the fence for modified & sprint features. Usually day shows kinda suck, but there was some good racing yesterday. Couple highlights... Ageless Phil York winning the cruiser main. Everybody loves Phil...he's been racing for about 100 yrs. Cooter Frazier taking a 16 yr.old car that still had leaves in the cockpit from sitting outside all winter...and finishing a strong 2nd in the Mod main. Speaking of mods... They ran 3 grooves on a dry slick track . That's a good sign when we go to night racing. Josh Grady rim riding from mid pack to 2nd. Then blowing a corner and doing it again in the sprint main...good stuff, fun to watch. Track stayed relatively dust free until the end of the sprint main. Good car counts in all divisions. Lots of positives going into the season.
...next weekend X mods& winged sprints on the program. Can't wait...hope we can pull cars/crowd like they had last night.
