Thank you for allowing me to vent. I am very frustrated. The doctor wouldn't give me any time off from work. ..no slip - nothing! This is the same doctor who didn't look at my history and pronounced that my cellulitus could be inflammation and didn't write out the prescription for antidepressants that she said she would. I burned up vacation during two of the last 3 episodes of this illness. It is a blessing that I had some vacation scheduled at the time and was able to add a couple days by calling it in. I am contemplating retiring, even though I am not ready. The management has made it increasingly difficult to work there. If you miss work, due to a governor declared state of emergency when it is 50 below zero and the roads are drifted shut the manager considers it no excuse. You will receive one point the first day and a 1/2 point thereafter, and when you accumulate 7 points you are fired. Doctor slips are NOT accepted. You first must apply for FMLA on a special form that must be sent to you from Dallas, Texas. When you send the form filled out by your doctor back to Dallas, Texas a corporate entity makes a decision as to whether you qualify for the FMLA. If the corporate entity loses your paperwork and or doesn't notify HR, as they did for me in the past, then it's still a point or points against your record. I am a quality assurance lab technician and am in charge of most of the lab equipment calibrations. My work is up and down when I am in the lab running tests. On the floor it's a lot of standing , walking. I am going to talk to my shift supervisor and the department manager about elevating my leg for a few minutes now and then. Anyone looking in at me from the glass door would probably question why I am sitting with my feet up in the air. I am seriously contemplating retiring, not so much because I want to be done working, but because the health insurance doesn't pay very well, and it becomes increasingly difficult to get time off when needed. The hassles and frustration brought on by working conditions make it very difficult to continue working. I am not doing as good a I should on the Cambridge. I do better when my schedule includes work. Everyone have a good day.
