All sweeteners can cause an insulin spike. The sweet taste of artificial sweeteners triggers cephalic phase insulin release, causing a rise in insulin levels. Regular use changes the balance of our gut bacteria. This could make our cells resistant to the insulin we produce, leading to both increased blood sugar and insulin levels. You won't necessarily see that reflected in a glucose reading. Insulin is the evil doer when it comes to weight loss. It is the fat storing hormone so keeping it low is the goal.
Let your body adjust to less sweet tastes. You will lose your desire for them.
