Day 2 Posted by MaryL on 5/1/2018, 8:41 am Day 1 did not go as planned. I had the oats this morning and am very hopeful all will go as planned today. Everyone have a good day.

The company has taken to buying a couple of huge cakes at the beginning of the month to celebrate birthdays and other milestones. I am so happy they didn't have it in the lunch room this afternoon and evening, which means I had one less obstacle. I am calling my abstinence from food this evening Intermittent Fasting- I enjoyed my Dutch Chocolate Shake at 5 pm. Tonight my plan is to enjoy some herbal tea when I get home after 11 pm. Everyone enjoy your evening.

The commercials are more often, the ads that come in a Sunday paper or in the mail are brighter and clearer. Even pop ups on my computer are food related. But MaryL big step, BIG MENTAL step you took. You are aware. That you noticed. You noticed before your hand and mouth did. I don't know how old everyone on here is, but I just turn 63. I remember when "Eating Out" was special. When a cake or even a dessert was special. Even at home. So if a cake came out at our house, you bet I was going to eat a piece, because we wouldn't see another one for months, Back then you didn't do class room "extravaganzas" It is very nice for your company to celebrate its employees in that way...... If it is someone you know personally, make or buy them a card so you "celebrate" with them. If it is "Just another birthday" then wish them well. I said all that to say this, your awareness of food,and seeing it for what it is, was a giant step.

I can count on 1 hand the number of times my family went out to dinner. It was an event! We never had fast food. We only had cake when it was someone's birthday in my family. Never had a birthday party other then my Aunt and Uncle and Grandmother coming over. No acknowledgment in school either. Everything now is so excessive in my opinion. Nothing is "special"...just expected.

God Bless them for the work they do. For the millions they have helped. But for someone to be clean and sober for 30 years and have a drink and start over at "Day One" is heart wrenching for me. AA works so not knocking it. I'm just sayin' MaryL you keep trudging, walking, skipping, running through each day, they will add up, no matter how you or we get through them. The goal is to get through those days so we have another day to "Do Better"
