I have been fighting with the rehab facility in which my husband has been staying. Who knew that the "world-famous" Kessler kicks their patients out after 25 days (whether they are ready or not)!!
My husband has had so many complications secondary to his stroke which has required extensive and more intense therapy. However, Kessler has continued to hold the hard line that he needs TO GO!!! As a physician, I have held them off as long as I can. Now that my husband is beginning to eat food, I am ready to leave the place. No one wants to stay where they are not wanted because they don't know if the insurance will continue to pay after 25 days.
Anyway, in frustration, I have not been as faithful as I should on Cambridge. Today is my really first day back since last week. However, using my Fitbit, my average calorie count has been less than 1100 calories per day over the past week. Not great but it could have been A LOT WORSE!!
Onward and upward toward my goal. I will never stop until I get there.
How can they put a time limit on care, when as in your husband's case, he still needs it? What are you supposed to do now? I know you are more then capable of managing this situation, but I would be freaking out. When do you need to leave and will he be going home? This is sickening.
I am happy to hear that he is able to eat though. That's great news. I'm sure it is very limited, but still progress.
I'm so sorry for this latest challenge. I think the fact that you are consciously minding your caloric intake is admirable. Not reverting to stress eating is a success.
Who knew? It's not that my husband is going home, but he is being "discharged" to a nursing home with little physician oversight and, as far as I am concerned, a warehouse. All because Kessler wants to save money.
Pam, it seems that it is ALWAYS something to derail me. But, this time, I am trying to hold the line and not stop off and eat something I shouldn't.
