My life has been turned upside down with the massive stroke suffered by my beloved husband. It's a true wake-up call.
He was "transitioned" to a subacute facility. In other words, the acute facility (Kessler) threw him out after the insurance was exhausted and they don't accept private pay. So, we had to go to another facility, which is a joke regarding physical therapy. I have been fighting and fighting these "skilled nursing facilities" and Kessler for the past month. The bureaucracy and corruption is rampant. I just hope none of your loved ones has to be in these "rehabilitation" hospitals. It is all about insurance and profits. No compassion.
Anyway, I have been trying to focus on Cambridge and believe it or not, I have not been perfect, but much better than I have been in the past.
I was SO tired and weary last night that Cambridge wasn't doing it for me. Instead of ordering my usual General Tsao's chicken from the Chinese place around the corner (because there is no real food in the house), I found some frozen green beans (French cut) and a few left-over fresh tomatoes from my garden. I microwaved the green beans, added the diced tomato and sprayed some "I can't believe it's not butter" on the vegetables with salt and pepper. It was really good and it satisfied my need to chomp down on something. I calculated the calories via my Fitbit and it was only 51 calories. Now, metabolically, I don't know how this combination will affect my ultimate journey to weight loss, but it was great last night.
This morning, I finished 30 days (every day) of my exercycle and my abdominal crunch exercises. I just finished walking 2.82 miles in our neighborhood park. I'll be going over to see my husband later. He is trying to swallow food and talk now. He is making very slow progress but I am so grateful that he is ALIVE!!
Have a great day. Just keep going. We will get there!!!
I'm glad you were able to make such a great choice for yourself in spite of having an extreme situation on your hands. By doing what you did, you sent the message to yourself that you are in charge of your choices and nothing has power over them but you.
Just be careful with your activity that you don't suffer a re-injury! That's probably absolutely last thing you need right now.
